Text Box: Welcome from the Editor
As a parent of a young child with disabilities I quickly realised that the unique experience of parenting a child with special needs is very rarely represented in magazines or popular culture.
There is a mass of information for Parents of Children with special needs, produced by both charities and government agencies, but very little focus on the actual experience of parenting.  Yet there are thousands of articles about the emotional experience of parenting typical children.  Disappointed in the lack of a parenting magazine for Parents with children who have additional needs, I decide to go ahead and create my own magazine.
The outcome is Milestones & Miracles which launched January 2007.
Currently it exists solely online. As many parents spend lots of time researching their child's condition online my initial wish was for a physical magazine which could be read whilst curled up on the sofa! However this was prior to researching printing costs! Eventually our hope is that some of the best articles can be produced in a printed format so they can be read in the bath or on the train. But for the moment the magazine will be in a tree friendly online format!
All the articles here will be parent written. Most parents on the journey of parenting a child with differences soon realise that ourselves and other parents are the true experts.  Many of us exchange support and information with other parents via internet forums or support groups on a daily basis and this magazine does not intend to replicate that.
The aim of this magazine is to provide a place for longer articles, features, poems, thoughts and musings on what it means to be a Parent of a child with additional needs.
In the midst of the sometimes overwhelming volume of information we hope to provide a little inspiration on this journey in which reaching milestones (big and small) can be monumental and sometimes miracles (big and small) may be witnessed.
